Waltz of the Snowflakes 2003

Waltz of the Snowflakes 2003

Every December, the Lake Arrowhead Classical Ballet Company presents The Nutcracker. This is the biggest event on the Company’s calendar, and lots of work goes into the production each season.

Auditions are held in June, just before school gets out. Rehearsals start in September and continue at the dance studio on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the fall.

The Sugar Plum Tea, our major fund-raising event, is held in early September.

Additional preparation goes into sets, costumes, music, lighting... Many different people contribute their talents to the effort.

Then, in one whirlwind week, we move all of our sets, props, costumes, and equipment over to the Performing Arts Center at Rim of the World High School, set everything up, conduct two evenings of dress rehearsal, and start the performances — for groups of school children during the week, and for the public on the weekend. When it’s all over, we pack up the gear and go home with the memories, ready to do the whole thing again next year.
