Rosie Caldwell

Rosie Caldwell – Clara

Also: Snow, Waltz

Rosie, a dancer of seven years, began dancing with the Looking Glass Studios in San Bernardino, and four years ago came to the Lake Arrowhead School of Dance. This is her second season as Clara.

In 2002 Rosie attended the two-month Joffrey Ballet summer intensive in New York City. In 2003 she went to Salt Lake City for Ballet West’s summer program.

Stephen Jacobsen

Stephen Jacobsen – The Nutcracker (Battle Scene)

Also: Toy Soldier Doll, Candy Cane Prince, Trepak

Stephen has been dancing since he was 8 years old and has performed in six seasons of The Nutcracker. His past roles have included Fritz’s Friend, Fritz, Soldier, Baker, Harlequin, Toy Soldier, Candy Cane Prince, and Trepak. He reprises several of those roles this season, along with one big addition, that of the Nutcracker himself, albeit incognito beneath the mask in the battle scene.

Stephen spent the summer of 2004 at The Rock School, an intensive summer program of the Pennsylvania Ballet, on a full scholarship.

Jakob Basham

Jakob Basham – Fritz

Also: Baker, Alternate Candy Cane Prince

Jakob began dance lessons with Sharon McCormick at the age of 8½. This is his fourth season performing in The Nutcracker and his second as Fritz. Jakob’s favorite sports are baseball and ballet. He hopes to one day play the Nutcracker or Mouse King.

Marge Jewell

Marge Jewell – Frau Stahlbaum

Also: Narrator, Rehearsal Director

Marge has been performing in The Nutcracker for the past thirteen years, both in San Bernardino and Lake Arrowhead. She received her dance training from Sharon McCormick, and has danced in productions of Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, La Boutique Fantasque, and La Fille Mal Gardee. Her favorite role is that of Clara and Fritz’s mother in The Nutcracker, which has become an important part of her Christmas season, as well as a family activity, involving her two daughters, Madeline and Stephanie. When she is not dancing, she is “Doctor Marge” — greatly loved as a pediatrician.

Tom Zepko

Tom Zepko – Herr Stahlbaum

Also: Music and Audio Production

Tom became involved with the The Nutcracker as sound technician for the LACBC’s first full production back in 1994. Before the week’s performances were over, he was convinced that by the following year he wanted to be on stage as well. This year marks his tenth year as a member of the cast and his second in the role of Herr Stahlbaum. Tom’s diverse skills include software engineering, website construction (including the ballet company site), music editing, and driving a Zamboni ice resurfacer. He has spent most of the last year in a hard hat at the construction site for the new Artesia Ice Palace.

James Ferranti

James Ferranti – Herr Drosselmeyer

Jim is an educator and dances for enjoyment. He has appeared in the Lake Arrowhead Classical Ballet Company’s production of The Nutcracker since the very beginning. This is his ninth year as Drosselmeyer.
